BBC's Global iPlayer iPad App Now Available In Finland, Sweden and Denmark

BBC’s Global iPlayer iPad app, originally launched in July in 11 European countries, is now available in Finland, Sweden and Denmark. For 6.99 €/month or an optional annual subscription of 64.99 €, users will get access to BBC’s extensive archives from the last 70 years of broadcasting.

The global version of the iPlayer app is a pilot video on demand service that provides customers with an archive of classic and contemporary British TV shows, including popular series The Office, Little Britain, Dr. Who and Top Gear. Customers can choose from eight different genres of programming – News Specials & Documentaries, Entertainment, Drama, Comedy, Science & Nature, Family & Kid, Music & Culture and Lifestyle. Shows can be streamed or downloaded for offline viewing.

The Global iPlayer iPad app’s annual subsrciption fee was originally priced at 49.99 € in July, but the BBC appears to have hiked up the price by a whopping 30%, at least in the Nordic market. However, it is still a fair bit cheaper than the monthly subscription.
