Food has always played a pivotal role in human life. Besides being the sustenance for life, it is also a significant part of culture and identity where it plays a major role in shaping our lives. But recently, due to increased population growth, space shortages, and climate change, some serious issues related to food are emerged. The world is witnessing food crisis, especially in developing nations. On the other hand, a substantial amount of food – approximately one-third of the world’s food- is also wasted during production, processing, distribution, retail and/or food service sales as much as in consumption. When we add food safety and lack of food producers to the equation, we unfortunately see a lot of negatives there.

Good thing is every downfall has a turning point. Of course, it is inevitable that where destruction takes place, there is creation – I didn’t say that, Schumpeter did. Food has a rescue as well: foodtech. Foodtech is the new way of thinking about food. It’s about using technology to create innovative solutions that improve our lives. In other words, it’s about creating better food.
