Copenhagen-based startup Lun Energy has secured €10.3 million in seed funding to help decarbonize homes across Europe. The Danish climate tech firm’s backers include Partech, Norrsken VC, Lowercarbon Capital, MCJ Collective and previous investor Foundamental. The company’s software solution aims to facilitate the sale, planning, and installation of heat pumps by tradespeople with fewer truck trips, simplifying the process for consumers, installers, and vendors who wish to expand their heat pump initiatives. Lun’s system is currently in an alpha release with testers in Denmark. The allocated funds will be utilized to broaden the scope of the company’s activities and intensify its focus on research and development.

“Decarbonising homes is an urgent climate problem that has only been accelerated by the current geo-political imperative facing Europe. 12% of CO2 emissions in the EU come from heating residential homes, and 90m buildings are heated with fossil fuel boilers. The technology to fix this is already available and financially more attractive than the fossil fuel alternative – but the transition to cleaner heating is too slow,” says Martin Collignon, co-founder and CEO of Lun. “To speed up the transition to cleaner homes across Europe we need to equip the businesses doing retrofitting with the right technology and incentives to focus on what drives decarbonisation. At the same time we need to provide solutions to homeowners that make the switch to green energy evident and effortless,”
