Leviosa, a health technology startup based in Gardabær, recently secured $1 million in pre-seed funding. The investment came from both existing angel investors and more than 60 healthcare professionals, mainly practicing physicians. Founded in 2019, Leviosa specializes in creating advanced healthtech solutions to streamline documentation processes and reduce administrative burdens for healthcare workers. This funding will enable Leviosa to complete their product development and launch their innovative solutions within Iceland’s healthcare system. They aim to address the challenges healthcare professionals face due to outdated systems during busy shifts by offering user-friendly tools that improve safety, accuracy, and efficiency in healthcare settings.

Leviosa, established in 2019 after thorough exploration, was conceptualized by co-founders Davíð, an emergency physician well-versed in quality improvement initiatives leveraging clinical tools like EHR software, and Matthías, a data enthusiast skilled in finance and project management. The team comprises computer scientists, a legal expert, clinical beta testers, a dedicated board of directors, and an advisory team. This diverse and skilled ensemble collectively possesses an extensive range of expertise essential for executing Leviosa’s vision. Their collective knowledge spans medical, technological, legal, and managerial domains, positioning Leviosa to effectively implement its innovative solutions within the healthcare industry.

Davíð Björn Þórisson, emergency physician, co-founder, and CPO at Leviosa says “Securing this investment from a diverse group of physicians and healthcare professionals is the ultimate validation of our mission. […] They intimately resonate with the challenges of dealing with outdated systems during busy shifts, and Leviosa brings hope by offering user-friendly solutions that lead to safer procedures, enhanced precision, and increased productivity in our challenging healthcare environments.”

Matthías Leifsson, CEO and co-founder adds that, “Over the past year, Leviosa has made exceptional hires and strengthened its domain knowledge, placing the company in a unique position within the healthtech sector. We take pride in the progress achieved thus far and eagerly anticipate the exciting developments in 2024. Collaborating with various public health organizations and private clinics, Leviosa is actively being implemented across multiple organizations. Stay tuned for more updates on our projects in the coming year.”
