IQM Quantum Computers

We build quantum computers

Salary Competitive

IQM is the European leader in superconducting quantum computers, established in Espoo, Finland. In two years, we have grown to 160+ employees and have established subsidiaries in Germany, Spain, and France. We build quantum computers for research laboratories and supercomputing centers. For industrial customers, we deliver quantum advantage through our unique application-specific co-design approach.

We are now looking for a Software Engineer to join our efforts toward the autonomous operation of superconducting quantum processors in our Munich office.

IQM develops on-premise quantum computing solutions based on superconducting circuit technology. You will contribute to further improving our software stack so that user interventions on the technical level are minimized and users can focus on running quantum algorithms instead. Although some understanding of quantum computing is appreciated, you don’t need to be an expert on quantum computation. What you really need is curiosity, willingness to work your way into new topics and technologies, and the desire to interact with our quantum computing experts.

What will I be doing?

  • Develop the software tools for the continuous operation of our quantum computing systems
  • Engage with quantum computing experts and engineers to understand their systems and requirements
  • Ensuring that software and hardware designs interface correctly
  • Define, document, and test processes for inclusion into technical platforms, subsystem specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
  • Follow good software development practices, including continuous integration
  • Planning the features and the architecture with the team
  • Creating new applications from scratch
  • Maintaining and extending existing products
  • Communicating and planning the details of the products across IQM teams as well as with external partners and customers
  • Interacting with the quantum hardware calibration and measurement experts

What skills do I need?

  • At least a few years of experience as a software developer
  • Experience in working on dynamic, fast-paced teams
  • Proficient oral presentation and writing skills in English
  • Strong desire to contribute your education, experience, energy, and enthusiasm to help build a dynamic and progressive quantum computing team and share in its success.
  • Preferably experience working with Python, queuing systems, and/or scheduling systems.
  • Quantum computing knowledge is not required, but valuable.

What can I expect from IQM?

  • A great opportunity to collaborate on world-class R&D and implement cutting edge technology
  • Sufficient financial backing for ambitious projects
  • An opportunity to work with a passionate and diverse international team on an important mission
  • A unique opportunity to make a real impact on the future of quantum
  • Growth and progress in a creative and open start-up environment

We’ll proceed with the interviews immediately, so please submit your application soon.
