Facebook Integration Comes With Skype 5.4 Beta For Mac

Skype seems to have speeded up its release of the version for the Mac and the latest update of Skype brings the much needed Facebook integration with Skype 5.4 Beta for Mac. This is similar to the Skype for Windows, and the news is definitely a big plus for Facebook users who own a Mac. Pretty much completes the Skype, Facebook and Mac triangle.

The update will enable Skype users to send instant messages and connect with their Facebook friends, right from their Skype client, giving them the true experience of one stop communication. The update lets users:

    • Like posts and news items
    • Read and update their news feeds and status
    • Comment on posts

All that users have to do is sign up with their Skype client for Mac, hit the “Connect with Facebook button” and enter your Facebook credentials. This would link your Facebook profile with the Skype client on Mac. Other than the Facebook connect option, Skype is also introducing the Advertising platform on the client for the Mac version, which is similar to what one sees on the Windows version of Skype. This means all the non-paying Skype users will be displayed ads on the home view for Skype.

Apparently the acquisition of Skype by Microsoft hasn’t really halted speedy updates for the Mac version of the client. Just wonder if Skype has any plans to make any integrations with LinkedIn or Twitter?
