Bygghemma becomes even bigger – acquires chain store Chili

    E-commerce startup Bygghemma, which focuses on home decoration and furniture, has been reported to be acquiring parts of the recently bankrupt chain store Chili.

    Bygghemma, which also owns the Trademax e-commerce store, has taken a strong position in the Scandinavian e-commerce scene. Started by former CDON CEO Mikael Olander, it has had an explosive growth. Revenue this year is expected to be reach over € 200 million, which is an more then a 10x increase in only 3 years.

    With the acquisition Bygghemma will be the second largest furniture store in Scandinavia.

    “IKEA has roughly half of the market, and will probably have that for another while. Our aims are to be an alternative to IKEA” said Mikael Olander to DI
