Latvian startup Printful will invest $1.5 million to build a new plant in Charlotte, North Carolina to cope with growing demand, the print-on-demand drop-shipping service said on Monday.
Printful said it chose North Carolina because of its historical ties to the textile and apparel industries, and its proximity to suppliers, printers and an experienced workforce.
“When Charlotte is fully operational, approximately 70% of all orders will be printed there,” it said.
Printful prints and ships print products like T-shirts for e-commerce retailers. It says it has grown exponentially every year since it was founded in 2013, and it now boasts 10,000 active users. Lauris Liberts, the founder of Printful, also co-founded Draugiem.lv, Latvia’s first social networking platform.
Printful employs 130 people – 100 in the US, and 30 in Latvia.
