Reykjavik-based startup Treble Technologies has secured €8 million in a seed round led by Iceland’s Frumtak Ventures with the participation of NOVA, the venture arm of Saint-Gobain and several angel investors. This round also includes a €2.5 million grant from the EIC. The startup develops next generation sound simulation and spatial audio technology for digital twins and virtual worlds. The funding will be used for product development, which will unlock the ability for multiple industries to create better sound experiences and reduce noise. This will also allow the startup welcome new teammates.
Treble Technologies was founded in early 2020 by Dr. Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, a couple of acoustic engineers with extensive experience and expertise in sound simulation. Having spent a good part of a decade researching and developing cutting-edge sound simulation technology and processes, they joined forces to bring this next generation technology to market, with the vision of enabling designers of the built environment to create a better sounding world.
“Using Treble’s virtual sound simulation platform in the design of the Uppsala Town Hall, we could for the first time integrate sound into our architectural design process. The end result is a more sustainable and healthy building, both for the users and the environment,” says Henning Larson’s Jakob Stromann-Andersen.
“In just two short years, Treble has managed to establish itself as a serious and credible leader in our space,” says Treble co-founder Dr. Finnur Pind. “Sound is an undervalued sense, but research has consistently demonstrated that it has a major impact on people’s health, well-being, and productivity. Our technology will not only make the real world a better sounding and less noisy place but within virtual worlds as well.”
