Realm, a Helsinki-based startup co-founded by former Slush leaders Miika Huttunen and Mikko Mäntylä, has raised €1.7M in funding to enhance its AI-powered knowledge search platform. The funding round was led by Lifeline Ventures, with participation from notable founders including those from Zalando, Snyk, Supercell, Wolt, and Pigment. The company’s product, also named Realm, acts as a conversational search engine designed for workplaces, aiming to streamline the process of accessing internal knowledge.

Realm has developed an AI-powered search engine tailored for the workplace. Their platform is designed to help users quickly find information across different tools, offering instant answers and the ability to create AI assistants based on their company’s knowledge. With backing from Lifeline Ventures and prominent founders in the tech industry, Realm aims to redefine how knowledge is accessed and utilized in professional environments.

With clients such as Sievo, Remedy, and Virta, Realm utilizes AI technology to understand and interpret natural language, enabling users to efficiently retrieve information. Looking ahead, the startup envisions expanding its platform to not only provide answers but also perform tasks on behalf of users, thereby boosting productivity.

Mikko Mäntylä, co-founder and CEO of Realm, states to tech.eu, “We all do knowledge work, but it’s very hard to find knowledge at work. Humanity has made its public knowledge highly discoverable. Meanwhile, it’s harder than ever to understand what your company knows.”

“Imagine being able to accurately retrieve anything your team has ever produced,” says Miika Huttunen, co-founder and COO. “Realm gives your organisation perfect memory.”

“In the past few years, computers have learned to understand and reason about natural language. This is a historic shift, and helps us solve a problem that has been holding the world back for decades,” says Johan Jern, co-founder and CTO. “Realm will use your company’s tools to complete tasks on your behalf. It will work in the background while you focus on more important things. This is a step change in human productivity.”

Timo Ahopelto, Founding Partner at Lifeline, says to tech.eu, “We invested in Realm together with seven founders that we’ve previously backed. This shows you how far the Finnish ecosystem has come, and that its future is even brighter.”
