Midio, a startup based in Oslo, has raised $660K in pre-seed funding to support its development of a visual programming interface for backend development. The funding round was led by Sondo Capital, with contributions from CTO Roundtable Invest, Tiny.vc, The Nordic Web Ventures, and angel investors from well-known Norwegian tech companies like Oda, Sanity, Ardoq, Enode, Scrimba, and Tise. Midio’s platform aims to bridge the gap between low-code tools’ accessibility and the flexibility of general-purpose programming languages. The company plans to use the funding to enhance its platform’s technical depth and speed, especially in areas like third-party service integration and handling unique use-cases.

Midio specializes in developing a visual programming interface for backend development. The company aims to provide high-level, flexible programming tools that address the market gap between low-code platforms and general-purpose programming languages. Midio’s platform is designed to enable quick prototyping and exploration of problems, catering to the needs of both developers and non-developers. With a focus on technical depth and speed, Midio offers solutions for integrating third-party services and handling less common use-cases in modern software development.

Midio CTO Kristian Hasselknippe says to Tech.eu, “When we ran a tech agency, quickly prototyping to explore problems together with clients was crucial. We tried many low-code tools but never managed to get past the prototyping stage. Midio was born from this need — a tool that’s fast and high-level yet has the technical depth experienced developers require.”

CEO Anders Bondehagen adds, “Midio excels across numerous use-cases, with third party service integration being a prime example. Modern software development often involves a mix of proprietary systems and external APIs. Often, existing tools limit developers with pre-made integrations that don’t handle your required use-cases. Whenever you’re dealing with less common scenarios, Midio provides the fastest route to a complete solution.”
