Östersund-based startup Marsblade has secured a new funding round of 10.7 MSEK, equivalent to approximately $1 million. The funding was provided by a consortium of both new and existing shareholders, including Geltis AB and a group of NHL players, namely Auston Matthews, Mikael Backlund, Shane Wright, Nicklas Backstrom, Henrik Zetterberg, and Niklas Kronwall. Marsblade provides innovative products and technology that will inspire people to join the game while supporting all hockey players from the NHL to young children. The new funding will be used to promote the company’s I2 Blade Holders and to further strengthen its position in the global roller market.

In the mid-00s, the former professional hockey player and founder of Marsblade, Per Mårs got the idea to create a training tool that improves his training off the ice. The idea, sketched on a napkin in a restaurant, was later developed into the now patented Flow Motion Technology (FMT). It became the groundwork for the Marsblade brand and the core of our innovative products. Marsblade is today a global company with offices in both Sweden and the United States, and markets all over the world.

The Marsblade I2 Blade Holder is a revolutionary off-ice skating product that is considered the best on the market, currently used by over 300 NHL players. The company is led by Per Mars, the Founder and Inventor of the I2 Blade Holder, and also develops Flow Motion Technology. The I2 Blade Holder is currently represented in all major hockey leagues worldwide, including the NHL, AHL, OHL, WHL, SHL, and DEL, and is used by top players such as Brandon Carlo (Boston), Mikael Backlund (Calgary), and Gustav Nyquist (Columbus).

Marsblade is a global brand with offices in Sweden, the United States, and global markets. The company’s mission is to create the best skating experience for hockey players around the world, and it is committed to developing innovative products that can help players improve their skills. With the new funding, Marsblade will continue to expand its reach and provide top-quality training products to hockey players worldwide.

“We have a strong owner base that supports and shares our long-term vision of setting a new standard in hockey. We greatly appreciate the strong desire to help both operationally and financially.” says Hans Victor, Founder and CEO.

“We want to continue our growth path and seed the market with more Marsblade I2 products, increase awareness of all the unique benefits that our patented Flow Motion Technology provides to today’s hockey players. The tremendous feedback we have on all levels supports the research that the I2 Blade Holder can become the new standard in hockey, revolutionizing the way hockey players skate.” says Per Mårs, Founder and Inventor.
