Reykjavik-based startup LearnCove, an innovative training and education platform, has just received a $915K investment boost to expand its reach globally in the fishing industry. The funding round was led by InfoCapital, and included participation from Reynir Grétarsson, founder of Creditinfo, and Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. LearnCove is a modular and easy-to-use platform optimizing delivery of training across markets and cultures.

The startup’s aim is to revolutionize the manual process for processing equipment manufacturers, help seafood companies enhance their quality procedures, and offer diverse training for employees both on land and at sea. The platform is already being utilized by a diverse range of companies in the fishing sector, both in Iceland and internationally, serving the needs of equipment manufacturers, educators, and seafood companies.

“LearnCove is reaching an important milestone. We currently have around 1,300 monthly active users and that number is growing rapidly with new customers. We have already taken our first steps towards scaling into foreign markets and closing this funding round takes our growth potential to a new level.” says Aðalheiður Hreinsdóttir, LearnCove’s CEO.

Hákon Stefánsson, CEO at InfoCapital says that “We invest in people and the LearnCove team is on a journey that we know and believe in.” He goes on to add that “The team has been able to develop and implement software that already delivers great benefits to users, while there are still opportunities in further development.”
