Reykjavik-based startup Greenbytes has raised €1 million from Crowberry Capital. The round also saw participation from Berlin-based APX, and selected angel investors from Germany. The startup provides a restaurant management tool for optimized ordering. This financial support will help Greenbytes accelerate its growth and help eliminate foodwaste.

GreenBytes was founded in 2020 by Jillian Verbeurgt and Renata Bade Barajas to reduce the food waste in Reykjavík while increasing the profit margin for restaurants. To conserve the environment and meet Iceland’s personal goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2040, the issue of food waste should be addressed. The greentech startup run by all-female tech team uses AI to combat food waste and help restaurants live a less chaotic life. The platform enables users to calculate how much of each raw ingredient they should be ordering by using their menu breakdown and AI to predict their future sales.
