Swedish mobility tech companies Bzzt and MoveByBike merge to dominate eco-friendly urban deliveries

Bzzt and MoveByBike, two Swedish mobility companies specializing in eco-friendly urban deliveries, are merging to enhance their competitiveness and broaden their service offerings. The merger will combine Bzzt’s electric mopeds and three-wheeled pods with MoveByBike’s electric cargo bicycles. The primary goal is to provide fast, emission-free deliveries, including same-day and one-hour options.

Both companies have been in operation for nearly a decade and share a vision of improving urban environments through efficient and sustainable transport and logistics solutions. The merger is expected to result in a stronger financial position, quicker profitability, and accelerated growth in the rapidly expanding delivery services market.

The acquisition technically means that MoveByBike buys Bzzt. The ownership relationship after the deal is completed is not fully determined, but Bzzt’s owners will hold a significant percentage of the shares. CEO of the company will continue to be Lisette Hallström. After the acquisition, the current board of MoveByBike will work for an expansion of places where 50 percent are represented by former members of Bzzt’s board and 50 percent from MoveByBike. This will create a broader competence base for the group. Bzzt’s board will nominate Sven Wolf as working chairman.

“By combining our strengths, we can become a leading player in inner-city logistics. Our digital platform allows us to connect quickly and easily with e-retailers and stores, so that we become an extension of their own systems. The combination with MoveByBike’s operational experience and strength makes us very attractive as a logistics partner,” says Sven Wolf, CEO Bzzt.

Both Sven Wolf and Lisette Hallström, CEO of MoveByBike, see the merger as a logical consequence of where the companies are today and how they see the market developing. The demand for logistics services is high and will continue to increase. There are many players fighting for the cake, but few independent companies that can offer both delivery within the hour and planned distribution – and even fewer that do it emission-free.

“This merger puts us in a completely new position where together we will develop and create completely new conditions, partly for transport logistics, partly for the companies. By optimizing the operations, we will take advantage of and develop the parts where we are at our best. We both provide transport services with electric transport vehicles where Bzzt focuses on direct business offers. A merger of the companies will mean strengthened competitiveness where together we will become a bigger player and partner for e-retailers and customers. The deal also means that we are getting closer to positive cash flows, which creates new conditions to build the business on,” says Lisette Hallström, CEO MoveByBike.

The completion of the acquisition is, among other things, subject to approval at an extraordinary general meeting of MoveByBike. The cooperation between the companies begins immediately. Under which name Bzzt and MoveByBike will operate in the future is not clear.
