Vamos Raises "Six Figure" Funding, Seeing Solid Growth In Latin America

Vamos, the event app, has secured an “undisclosed €6-digit friends and family round” to hire more freelance developers and continue their expansion. We covered the Berlin-based startup created by a team of Swedes last August, when they announced their public launch. But if you missed that coverage, the concept is pretty simple and handy.

Vamos aggregates public Facebook events through an iPhone app – meaning when you connect your Facebook account to Vamos it shares your public events in a list or map view. As a result, on a given night you can see gallery openings, music at restaurants, and other events that might interest you, even though you aren’t connected to the event on Facebook. The app also offers a few other features, like directions to the events and pictures of the people who have publicly said they are attending, giving you a better impression of the vibe at the event.

The service has only been launched publicly for two months, but they still highlight 63% montly, 26% weekly, 7% daily active users. But I personally can attest to the stickiness of the app. If you want to know what’s happening on a given night, it’s easy to pop it open and see what’s happening around you. I review a lot of apps, but Vamos is one that I still open weekly.

The app is seeing solid growth in Northern Europe as well as Brasil. To continue their growth, the company has secured a nice lineup of promotions in the coming months. Vamos will be featured in 5 TV-episodes on Start-Up Berlin, a TV show on Deutche Welle and it’s media partners with an audience of 10 million. In addition, they are starting a promotion to 80+ local news sources in Brazil.

David Prentell, co-founder of Vamos tells us, “We believe that an idea is only as good as the problem you solve. In our case it’s what do you do in a city rich for culture and nightlife? With the money we’ll perfect our solution (adding our 3rd developer this week) and create an Android app. Instead of doing the obvious, to go straight into the US with the app, we’re going after our biggest growing market right now. Latin America.”

Within the next month they will also be launching their 1.0.2 iOS app, which will feature push notifications, and in December they will launch their Android app.
