Remember the Helsinki Spring? Only a startup deity like Steve Blank could visit Helsinki in September and tell us that spring was coming (and for us to believe him).
Blank couldn’t stop a long dark winter, but it was a sign of real momentum that became a turning point for the Helsinki startup scene. It was my impression that before then Helsinki’s entrepreneurs were unsure of their position in the startup world, but if a couple college kids could convince the guy that wrote the book on startups to come visit, then surely something important was happening.
