Swedish Brain Intelligece startup Intuicell gets funding, new CEO

Lund-based Intuicell, which is pioneering the field of Artificial Intelligence with its unique Brain Intelligence technology, said it has secured accelerator funding from IKS, and appointed Viktor Karlsson as its new Chief Executive.

Brain Intelligence differs from existing AI by being much more faithful to the functionality of a real brain. The technology can therefore bring possible solutions to challenges both tractable and intractable with AI, the company said.

The technology of 2020-founded Intuicell can run on existing hardware platforms or be made as stand-alone applications, without any external computational support. As stand-alone applications, including hardware, Intuicell technology can be used to support the process industry or to improve functionality in various consumer-level electronics.

Karlsson brings to the scientist-founded company more than 10 years’ experience from the startup environment when he replaces founder, neuroscience professor Henrik Jörntell, who will continue his work with the company as Board member.

”Viktor is the right person to lead Intuicell into a new phase, with a rapid growth trajectory,” Michal Stala, investor and Chairman of the Board, said in a statement.

”He has a strong entrepreneurial background that we have been looking for, with demonstrated qualities in leadership, business development and fundraising.”
