ShapeUp Club Recruits Spotify & Stardoll Execs

Stockholm-based ShapeUp Club got a little bit of a shakeup yesterday after hiring as CEO Henrik Torstensen, ex-Spotify head of Premium Sales, and Marcus Gners, Vice President of Business Development at Stardoll. Their positions will be CEO and Deputy CEO, respectively. Both have a history of being advisors to the company.

The company’s founders, Tove Westlund and Martin Wählby, will be heading up product development and sales. “I have been part of a couple of amazing growth journeys before and with the way ShapeUp Club is evolving, both from a product and company perspective, the potential is huge”, says new CEO Henrik Torstensson.

Shape Up Club offers iPhone and Android apps that encourage weight loss through eating and exercise. The app works as a combination of a calorie and nutrition tracking diary, and weight plan based on your metrics, and spits out nice graphs to keep you motivated.

The service is available in 12 languages, and they claim 4 million downloads, with 450,000 monthly active users and a growth rate of more than 10,000 new installs per day. These are already big numbers, but ShapeUp Club still seems to fly under the radar when talking about Stockholm. Perhaps we’ll hear some new changes in the near future.

Shape up club currently employs 11 employees in Stockholm, and says they are actively hiring.
