Resolution Games and Odd Raven Studios Strike Publishing Deal to Bring Carly and the Reaperman to Quest

Resolution Games – leading virtual reality (VR) studio with 12 titles to its name including Blaston, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, Bait! and Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale – today announced a partnership with the creator of Carly and the Reaperman, Odd Raven Studios. With the agreement, Resolution Games will publish Odd Raven’s highly-rated game, Carly and the Reaperman, for the Quest platform – making it available for Quest and Quest 2 players for the first time.

This also marks the first of such partnerships under Resolution Games’ publishing initiative that aims to help advance VR adoption rates across the industry. The studio hopes to work with game developers around the world to help curate content that will create richer store environments by focusing on bringing existing, high quality titles – like Carly and the Reaperman – to more VR platforms.

“Carly and the Reaperman is a great fit for Resolution Games’ library of multi-player co-op games. This partnership is a big milestone not only for Resolution Games but for the VR industry as well,” explained Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games. “As part of this and future relationships, our studio is able to use our skills honed over the last five-plus years to help other developers navigate all the elements to bring their existing virtual reality games to more platforms. With more titles available on the Oculus Quest platform than any other developer out there, we have a healthy amount of experience in the whole process – whether it’s development, platform relations, trailer and store support, marketing, community relations and more – especially when it comes to moving more swiftly in bringing challenging titles to market like multiplayer and cross-platform games.”

Resolution Games will expand other developers’ reach that may not have the means to do so in-house in order to bring their content to more players, while also working with platforms to streamline the process. Palm added, “The goal is to add value to all involved – including developers and platform providers – by ensuring more top quality content comes to market at an accelerated rate.”

“Resolution Games has proven to be a leader in the VR space by providing top titles and being the most proficient studio at multiplayer and cross-platform games, so we feel that their expertise is a perfect fit to help take Carly and the Reaperman to the Quest audience,” said Johan Högfeldt, CTO of Odd Raven Studios. “They’ve also proven they can effectively handle external IP (Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs), and we’re confident that together we will be able to bring success to our game.”

Today’s announcement of Resolution Games’ new publishing initiative is another milestone for the studio that has seen a great deal of growth in 2020. Now with a team of more than 70 people, the studio is continuing to grow at a rapid rate with 12 titles in its portfolio, six of which are on the Oculus Quest platform. The company also has a new home in an expanded office space in central Stockholm, and the team is thrilled to continue to add veteran staff members in the coming months on the heels of welcoming games legends, Mike Booth (creator of Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and Nox) and Tom Hall (Wolfenstein, DOOM, and Rise of the Triad) to the team.

Carly and the Reaperman is an award-winning title (“People’s Choice Award” – IndieCade Europe 2018) and the first game to be released by Odd Raven Studios. In this unique VR platform game, you can play up to 2-players and collaborate to finish levels, avoid dangers, solve puzzles and build your way through the Underworld. It is currently available for PSVR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows MR headsets, with 98% of Steam reviews being positive. The launch on Quest and Quest 2 is slated for the first half of 2021.
