Copenhagen-based startup OWND has just announced the successful acquisition of $750K of pre-seed funding co-led by Nordic VCs byFounders and Skyfall Ventures with the participation of Steel DAO, a blockchain tech community funded by Bessemer Venture Partners. This backing demonstrates the confidence the industry has in OWND’s unique approach to fashion NFTs. The funding will be used to launch its highly anticipated fashion NFT platform. OWND’s platform aims to provide customers with a unique experience by offering exclusive benefits such as physical items and in-person meet-ups.
OWND’s platform is set to launch in April 2023, and customers will be able to purchase OWND NFTs using Apple or a credit card. The founders, Anker Bach Ryhl and Mads Lunau Liechti, created OWND after facing too many obstacles on existing crypto platforms. They have designed the platform to be accessible and user-friendly for everyone, ensuring that customers can easily access exclusive and highly sought-after fashion items.
OWND’s new pre-seed funding will be instrumental in launching its highly anticipated fashion NFT platform. With its unique and highly curated selection of NFTs, OWND is set to revolutionize the fashion industry and offer customers a new level of exclusivity and luxury.
Anker Bach Ryhl said, “Investing should be easy. You shouldn’t have to sign up for three different platforms and be an expert on all things crypto just to get started. Many would like to invest in NFTs, but they haven’t taken the leap yet due to the technical complexity of blockchain technology. OWND makes it as easy to buy a Nike NFT as it is to buy a Nike sneaker.”
Casper Bjarnason of Founders added, “The previous cycle gave us a glimpse of the potential of NFTs, but with limited and speculative use cases. We believe the next bull run in the space will be driven by utility and culture. There’s a huge potential in fashion where NFTs will have cultural significance and become core parts of people’s digital and social identities.” Additionally, he added, “The internet native Gen Z will mainly drive the adoption and OWND is already deeply rooted in the space.”
