Coming soon: Touchless touch screen

Small Finnish tech firm Ixonos said it has agreed to develop the world’s first holographic touchless touch screen together with US firm Provision Interactive Technologies.

“The touchless touch screen is a truly sanitary solution,” notes Bob Ostrander, EVP of Provision.  “It will free consumers from the physical constraints involved in reaching conventional touch screens, and of course will feature Provision’s crisp, high-resolution 3D holographic images.  Ixonos has a strong background in and understands 3D, visual design and digitalization so they are the perfect partner for us.”

The technology will support Provision’s 3D reward kiosks which today combine 3D holographic display, which projects videos in front of the screen without the need for any special glasses and without any discomforting eye stress, with a 2D interactive touch screen that provides consumers access to promotions, rewards, and coupons.  The kiosks are also able to print coupon offers, allowing the retailer and other advertisers to offer customers highly effective sales influencers at the point of purchase.

The kiosks are also able to print coupon offers, allowing the retailer and other advertisers to offer customers highly effective sales influencers at the point of purchase. Brand marketers will be able to showcase their products via 3D advertising and engage viewers via the touch screen.

“The combination of Ixonos’ award-winning design and development expertise and Provision’s forward-thinking team of innovators will create the blueprint for the next gen kiosk—and we’re thrilled to be a part of it,” said Ted Iannuzzi, Creative Business Technologist at Ixonos.
