Mobile Backstage Goes Android

Mobile Backstage, the multi-service communications platform for bands and their fans, is now available on the Android platform. The Android roll-out follows the launch of the service’s Facebook application last August.

Android owners can now use Mobile Backstage to follow their favorite artists, interact with other fans, play and buy music, check into gigs and much more.

“Mobile Backstage is a 21st century fan club that integrates web and mobile fan communities and it’s important that fans can join it regardless of the phone they are using. By making Mobile Backstage available to Android users, we are moving closer to our goal of helping bands connect with their fans no matter where they are”, says Paavo Bäckman, the CEO of Mobile Backstage.

The platform enables artists and fans to exchange news, pictures, video, audio and text in a more inclusive and intimate community. The service has previously been released as an iPhone and Facebook application.

Artists can purchase Mobile Backstage for $699, which includes the iPhone and Facebook platforms (+49€/month for hosting). Adding Android will cost an additional $349. The platform is also available as an all-inclusive package for $2,299, which includes all the platforms (+Nokia), a personal account manager and hosting for the first year.

Originally launched in July 2010, Mobile Backstage is looking to grow the number of artists using the platform, which currently include the likes of Black Label Society, Tinie Tempah, Nightwish and Lykke Li. Artist specific Mobile Backstage apps are currently being rolled out on the Android Market.

Mobile Backstage is a product of Steam Republic Ltd., a Finland-based startup founded in 2009.
