Latvian VR firm Giraffe360 raises seed

Giraffe360 aims to change the way people find their homes, offices and event spaces with new funding of 500,000 euros, which marks the largest seed round in a Latvian startup this year.

Giraffe360 was founded in 2015 by Mikus Opelts, who has been working with virtual tours, 3D , 360 video and aerial drone footage since 2010 at Giraffe Visual. He has also hired a strong engineering team, including the winner of “RobotChallenge 2015” Maris Becs.

The team has developed a 360° camera and software that lets people view virtual tours on the web, mobile and virtual reality headsets. The camera generates HDR images and the software makes sure they look the best on Giraffe360 panoramas. The first prototype was tested in July by first subscribers in London, Riga, Tallinn, Oslo and Tbilisi.

Based on market feedback, the team has developed a growth strategy and raised a funding round from private Estonian venture capital consortium led by Koha Capital.

“It is a great milestone for Giraffe360 team and really important for our future success. We have earned the opportunity to get closer to our ambition in serving businesses in London, New York, Sidney, Tokyo and the rest of the world,” said Opelts. ”With seed money support we plan to strengthen our team hiring new software developers and expand our presence in top cities around the world”.

This is the largest publicly disclosed seed round raised by a Latvian startup this year. Giraffe360 currently focuses on the UK market, and is hiring bright tech talent with ambitions to bring better property listings to everyone around the globe.
