During those two days, 11 speakers went up on stage in the name of exclusively Lithuanian blogging while the world went about its own business, barely noticing the existence of such a conference. In hindsight, and with a little bit of detective work, we can all work out what happened next. Yet it’s hard to think anyone would’ve guessed how such a small conference made for local bloggers would eventually grow to become literally the largest tech community gathering in the Baltics.
Indeed, eight years later, the newest edition of the Login Tech Conference is here once again, now bigger than ever. This year’s Login predicts more than 3500 participants and promises more than 70 highly regarded international speakers during two eventful days during the 10th and 11th of April 2014.
Big names and important startup community players are going to be there; StartupBootCamp, Oxygen, Startup Sauna and numerous VC funds (including Intel Capital, Wellington Partners, full list here) have confirmed their attendance.
As mentioned before, the speakers list is a long one, including names such as Jon Matonis, Executive Director of the Bitcoin Foundation, Tristan Jehan, co-founder and CSO of recently acquired Echo Nest and Jack Andraka, 16 years old cancer researcher from the Johns Hopkins University. The Login conference will see the LOGIN Startup Fair & Pitch Challenge that joined the conference last year and is organized by Enterprise Lithuania. The event where startups will pitch before a grand jury in a fit of stressful sweat and tingling anticipation. In addition to media, crowd and investor attention (which is more valuable than gold), the winner gets both the money prize of €3 500 from MTGx and a free ticket to the Startup Lithuania Roadshow 2014, a world tour circling through Tel Aviv, London, Berlin and Helsinki in the fall of 2014.
In order to expand the startup roots in the region, this year’s Login is specifically organising a special Startup Belarus event, which includes Panel discussion on joint Belarus and Lithuanian Startups’ opportunities for going global and Speed networking session.
During its eight year lifespan, the Login conference has gradually grown to its current scale, mostly because of the continuous success of the event. Companies like CGTrader made their initial contacts with VC’s (in this case, Intel Capital) through the large business networking opportunities offered in Login.
The Login conference has increasingly engaged ICT enthusiast in the region, and much like the Estonian ICT week, an event like Login hasn’t gone unnoticed from the Lithuanian political figures, such as the Lithuanian president, Dalia Grybauskaitė who admired innovations in her annual report this year underlined how the LOGIN generation creates new globally-oriented IT startups every week.
