iPad's Oceanhorn coming to… Steam?

It’s not often that you see this transition: Finnish AAA iPad game Oceanhorn is making the move from mobile to the desktop with an announcement that one month from today their iPad hit, Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas will be released on Steam.

Oceanhorn launched late 2013 and was known for its similarities to Nintendo’s Zelda while providing nice 3D graphics for fighting monsters and solving puzzles. Oceanhorn hit close to 1 million players in the game center worldwide, reaching the #1 position in the paid categories in 47 countries and #1 in the “all apps” category in 32 countries.

The move by Cornfox & Brothers might seem backwards looking at the amount of money pumping through App Stores, but it should help the brand hit a wider audience. Personally I don’t have an iPad, and I’m a little excited to see what the fuss was all about.

“For us it was clear from the very beginning that Oceanhorn as an nostalgic adventure experience would be right at home on PC and huge success of the mobile version allowed us to bring the game for the Steam audience to enjoy,” said Heikki Repo, Creative Director of Cornfox & Brothers. “We are excited to launch this epic adventure on Steam in March so that PC gamers can get in on the action”.

Oceanhorn will be available to download for $14.99 on Steam. Currently it’s available for iPad for $8.99
