Junction Brings Together Best Talent In The Nordics

500 developers, creators and designers gather in Helsinki at the biggest hackathon ever arranged in the Nordics.

Junction, arranged on November 7th-8th in Helsinki, is one of the main hackathon events that is leading towards the biggest startup event in the Nordics, Slush. Nearly 1000 applicants from over 35 different countries around the world applied to the largest hackathon ever arranged in the Nordics.

Junction 2015 is open for everyone for the whole weekend and more than 500 creatives are expected to participate at the event spending 2 days and nights committed to the project. If you haven’t registered for the Junction to actually hack or make, you can come and follow the buzz at Kattilahalli, Helsinki.

On Saturday, the Junction Tech Day represents all the latest technology alongside interesting keynotes to the audience of the event. Sunday’s program consists of Junction Demo Expo, where all the teams participating on hackathon showcase what they’ve created during the weekend.

As the best teams of Junction are awarded during Slush, no wonder why the hackathon is rounding up the best talent from around the Nordics to attend at the event. The best teams will get to pitch their hacks on stage at Slush on the 12th of November in front of a panel of investors and industry experts – and the winning team will take home €20 000 main prize.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of the hackathon traditions in Finland. Hackathons have been always about creating future services today. We’re excited to see what the developers think should exist based on traditionally restricted data assets, such as detailed transaction data. Best new apps will win GoPro’s and a Walkera drone,“ says Kristian Luoma from OP Financial Group. As one of Finland’s biggest financial groups, they want to get through hackathon real life feedback on their experimental banking API planned to be opened for developers in the future.

“In addition to sharing our views for banking APIs to come out in the future and hearing the developers’ feedback on the way we’ve built the API, we’ll also be catering for the needs of the makers by supplying Espresso and Café Latte at our lounge,” describes Luoma.
