Finnish creative platform raises $4.5 million in its seed round

Theatre.js, a brand new creative platform from Finland, has raised $4.5 million with its seed round and the platform is now planning to start its operations.

The work on Theatre.js started with inspiration from online media created with new formats by brilliant artists and engineers. Team of Theatre.js refers to these online media as “web interactives” and they include media such as microsites which contain many elements that aren’t in regular online content as well as data storytelling and explorable explanations, which is a new educational media format.

Despite the revolutionary aspect of these new media formats, the creators of these new types of media often struggle with not having access to tools that make their creative process easier. Theatre.js aims to make the work of these creators easier and to serve their unique needs regarding content creation.

From the seed round of the company which managed to raise $4.5 million, we can see that there is a certain need for such services. The venture firm OSS Capital has led the successful seed round that made it possible for Theatre.js to bring its vision to fruition. About Theatre.js and its innovative nature, Joseph Jacks, the founder and GP of OSS Capital, has stated:

“We believe that Theatre.js is poised to unlock transformative and category-disruptive technology to accelerate the era of immersive, interactive web experiences.”

The innovative creative platform is now planning to move forward with confidence

When Aria Minaei, the founder and CEO of the company, made their first release in September 2021, the company didn’t have a community backing it up. Today, however, they have the resources and a strong community to help them build a creative platform which will make a brand new set of opportunities available in the artistic field.

Some of the angels and advisors to the platform include people like Ram Shriram, founding board member of Google, Amjad Masad, co-founder and CEO of Repl.it, and Adam Wiggins, of Ink & Switch, Muse, and prev. CTO of Heroku. Theatre.js is prompting like-minded individuals to join their community and be there during their journey towards creating more opportunities for artistic freedom.
