Estonia to taste CakeHR

If your recruitment process was a candy, what would it be? These tech, UX and human2human enthusiasts promise to make it sweet.

CakeHR learns and adjusts to their users’ habits instead of imposing new unfamiliar features on them. The team already has airBaltic, 4Finance and CBS Corporation among their clients. All on their own money, know-how, networks and perseverance.

We are proud to have gotten this far without external investors,” states CakeHR co-founder and CEO  Kaspars Upmanis. “It helps keep our priorities right: we are first of all accountable to our customers and employees. It is sometimes tempting to consider a funding round for faster growth, but it would only make sense in a partnership that goes beyond money alone.

Kaspars started CakeHR after his UK-Latvian design agency grew too big to manage on paper posters or Excel spreadsheets. With his friend Norberts Erts as co-founder CMO, Kaspars launched CakeHR in 2012 with a mission to replace Excel spreadsheets for employee time off.

Today CakeHR offers a comprehensive HR solution with detailed reports, organisational charts, mobile support, integration with Slack and Google Apps, employee onboarding, offboarding and 360 degree feedback. Adding Lee Chapman responsible for Success-as-a-Service and Janis Dubinskis for B2B sales, the company keeps steadily gaining ground.

Laura Liisa Lemetsar joined the team this year to help expand CakeHR to Estonia. Young and ambitious, Laura has been active in AIESEC and hopes to use her professional network to grow the company.

“Our goal is to build the Europe’s best HR system – great features, excellent customer support and a really easy-to-use platform which keeps employees engaged,” says Kaspars. “Sounds banal, but that’s what we do.”

Kaspars prefers to use clients’ testimonials to explain what that means:

“We used to track things on a clumsy spreadsheet that was always wrong. Since CakeHR, we don’t need employee training: new team members get on with it themselves. Strongly recommend this for any small to medium sized company.”

-Rodrigo Dauster, MyShowcase

“We now manage our time off, work from abroad, work from home, and sick days transparently and without taking time from managers.”

-David Basulto, Archdaily

In addition to happy clients, HR industry has recognized CakeHR with 15 different awards and acknowledgements including 5th place in Gartner’s GetApp’s Top 25 cloud-based HR Apps.

Let’s wish these guys luck. Who knows, we may see them in an Estonian national top soon enough.
