Cross-platform mobile and visual toolset raises €2.59 from Northzone and Alliance

More beautiful apps are coming our way: Oslo-based Outracks Technologies announces it has raised €2.59 million from Northzone and Alliance Venture. The company produces cross-platform content creation tools, most notably its Realtime Studio creative tool suite and IDE, which allows programmers to create multi-platform apps and visuals using HTML5 and WebGL. Realtime Studio is currently in closed beta, but this investment suggests that they’ll be pushing to get Realtime Studio into businesses and freelancers’ hands soon.

Realtime Studio is based on Uno, their homegrown CPU-GPU programming language, which the company says provides a flexible and intuitive abstraction for visual development without the performance sacrifices associated with traditional approaches.

Some gorgeous things have been made with Realtime Studio and Uno, including Simo Santavirta’s APEXvj, and “games” like Bots Fishing.

“In our increasingly mobile and connected world there is an enormous demand for compelling apps and user experiences across the billions of screens that we are using every day. This is a huge opportunity for developers, and our technology solves several of the technical challenges involved in multi-platform development today.” says Anders Lassen, CEO of Outracks Technologies.

The stuff coming out of Outracks is beautiful, so it will be crazy cool to see how game developers and designers pick up the platform.
