Copenhagen-Based Click A Taxi Now Covers 50 Countries

Every now and then a startup pops out of the woodwork that we should have covered by now. Copenhagen-based Click A Taxi now covers 50 countries, a steep jump from the nine countries it previously covered. The service is still labeled as beta, but it should be noted that the company is working with over 2,000 taxi companies. Scaling up to 50 countries is obviously a challenge, but the company says they’ve been working hard over the last nine months to meticulously map cities in 50 countries.

“I wanted to build a product so that I would never ever have to worry about getting a safe taxi, in whatever language, where ever in the world,” says Click A Taxi CEO, Søren Halskov Nissen.

The app grabs location data from the phone, and then throws that info into the car-ordering software that firms use to manage their fleets. Taxis can be ordered for “as soon as possible” or prebooked.

In addition to this increase in coverage, Click A Taxi also has redesigned their app. The company was founded in 2010 and has raised €1.57 million in funding. The taxi market is clearly crowded, but becoming a global solution is a tough act to follow.

Links to their app for iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone can be found on their website.
