Capidea recently announced they had invested in video management software company, Xstream – the premium provider of OTT and TV service everywhere. The sum of the investment remains disclosed, but was large enough to establish Capidea as the firm’s majority shareholder, and subsequently new owner. The Danish private equity fund now owns slightly more than 50% of Xstream: clearly a major stake.

Xstream supplies its customers with developed streaming software, MediaMaker, which enables them to distribute media files to their consumers – allowing the buyer to receive files through their TV, PC, tablet and smartphone. Its clients include DisneyTelenor and Canal Digital, as well as the more local Nordisk Film andJyske Bank TV. The company is now a large, profit-making firm, with offices located in major cities of both Europe and North America, and a profit of over €3.5 million made in 2012, .

In recent year’s, Xstream has moved swiftly forward in terms of growth and development, and expects this pace to accelerate under the supervision of new owners; thus allowing the company to extend its grasp to cover international markets.

“Xstream is a very exciting company with strong competencies and an innovative, market leading and unique product. Xstream has a scalable business model, making Xstream highly competitive, even against major global competitors,” says Nicolai Jungersen, Capidea partner.

Frank Thorup, CEO and co-owner at Xstream, is equally optimistic about the company’s future prospects under this new ownership, saying that with the new ownership structure the company is well prepared for winning new large international customers.

The enthusiasm doesn’t end there: former director at Danish telecom firm TDC, Lars Torpe Christofferson, has also made an investment in the company, motivated by their ‘remarkable potential and a solid and strong management team’. He has joined Thorup’s team as Xstream’s new chairman.

With Christofferson’s expertise, Thorup’s experience and the financial support of Capidea, Xstream appears ready to take on the global market.
