If you can make it to Finland in the first week of August and you are a Finnish or Russian startup there is an opportunity for you in the Startup Connect Contest.
Applications have opened last month. Organized by a number of municipalities and an organization with a decade of experience holding tech events and competitions, Startup Connect was built with a singular mission in mind: to support startups, student entrepreneurship, as well as small and medium-sized businesses in bringing their products and services to the global market.
Who Is the Contest For?
Any Russian or Finnish startup in the growth, startup, seed, or pre-seed stages who is working in the following industries should apply:
- Logistics
- IoT
- Robotics
- Hardware
- Smart Mobility
- Other Industries (if you’re really good)
What’s in it For You and Your Team?
The winning startup will be rewarded with:
- An invitation to the LevelUp Startup Accelerator where they obtain access to an extensive network of rising entrepreneurs, investors, industry experts, and renowned mentors; the accelerator also provides access to an intensive startup training program
- An opportunity to launch pilots with Finnish companies
- A participation package with your own booth at Web Summit 2019
- €5,000 cash prize
How Do You Join the Contest?
You begin by sending your applications before June 10th, 2019. You will be asked to enter basic information about yourself, your startup, the industry you are working in, etc. Following this, you will be asked to briefly describe your business, give a short pitch, discuss your competition and how you are different from those trying to solve the same problem.
What Happens After You Apply?
Of the entrants, 10 finalists will be selected and trained to work on their pitch so they are ready for the Final Pitch Session during the *Ship Startup festival in Kotka. The winner of the pitch session will take home the prizes. Even if you are not able to win the entire competition, you will be able to network, test your business model and get a free trip and accommodation for *Ship this August.
