Bloglovin' Overhauls Mobile App To Take Blog Aggregation Mobile

It’s become such a fact that I don’t even feel like I need to dig up some numbers; a huge percentage of web browsing is done over mobile. For a blog aggregator, like Stockholm’s Bloglovin‘, this means a strong focus on mobile engage their readers with a dedicated app. This week they’ve announced an overhauled an relaunched app to better reach their 1.8 million members and four million blogs listed on its site.

We covered their first mobile app in March of 2011, which co-founder and CEO Mattias Swenson tells GigaOm was more of a mobile shell than a full featured app.

In the updated app, all blogs are now properly mobile optimized, and Bloglovin’ now features content discovery heavier in their app. Six months ago The company raised $1m in seed-funding from Betaworks, Lerer Ventures, RRE Ventures, Bruce Jaffe, Hank P. Vigil, Fritz Lanman and others.

”We saw that fashion & lifestyle blogs were mainly consumed on desktop, though the content was visual and would be perfect for mobile devices. Our goal with our seed-round was to build an fantastic app that would bring people an optimized and highly visual reading experience. So it’s great to finally see it in the app store!” said Swenson.

The app can be downloaded for iPhone here. Android and iPad optimized apps are coming in 2013.
