Wrist-ready wellness apps are launching for Apple Watch

Apple Watch retail sales started today and once again Apple enthusiasts (as well as app developers) around the world are more than thrilled. The watch has been referred as Apple’s “most personal device yet”, and it aims on integrating itself into the user’s lifestyle.

Finnish Fitness track app Fjuul is one of today’s launches for Apple Watch. Sascha Wischek, CEO and Founder of Fjuul, is excited to be in the front line, but for them the launch is start for something bigger. Wischek reveals that they’re developing their app to be even more rich with the content in the next few weeks.

    – Fjuul is not going to be soon only about tracking your performance, but it’s gonna be a solution with meaning and it will provide more guidance for the users, Wischek describes.

Also Finnish mobile developer Gajatri Studios is launching tomorrow a new breathing exercise application – Mindful Watch. The Founder and CEO of Gajatri Studios Tiina Zilliacus emphasizes that their focus is this year on playful and healthy applications, which will integrate smart watches and mobile to heart rate tracking.

    – Our objective is to inspire real health impact in every mobile life, so making simple yet effective yoga breathing and mindfulness practices easily available on your wrist was a natural and compelling next step for us to take, Zilliacus says.

While checking through the launched wellness applications – there are some common features in them: they are referred as ‘suitable for everyone’ and ‘easy to use’ – which supports the aim of being a convenient device (that Apple Watch has been marketed to be). Next we’ll see that which apps will win the hearts of the users!

Seriously Games’ Best Fiends is also hitting the Apple Watch with a complementary experience rather than a port of the game. Apple Watch players earn rewards to bring back into their Best Fiends game on their iPhone where they can use them to level-up characters, discover new powers and defeat the Slugs.

Therese were just the press releases that ended up in our inbox today, but if you know any more Nordic or Baltic startups coming to Apple’s wrist experience, let us know in the comments. Apple Watch has been estimated to be available in Apple Stores all around the world in June. The watches are sold already today in few prosperous boutiques, such as Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London and Corner in Berlin.
