They often start from a passion for the sport, but while they could be very professional at running the practice, they tend to struggle with the constant multitasking which is a challenge for even the most efficient assistant.
Sportlyzer offers a software service where coaches can organise all of their athletes, share training schedules, and automate all related communication. In Europe alone there are 1.1 million clubs, with more than 230 million people participating.
There are several competitors for Sportlyzer, but the market of sports coaching technology platforms is still young and the firm expects it to grow by 50 percent a year. The startup has paying clubs from more than 25 countries and customer acquisition is online. The firm plans to penetrate the market with a reasonably-priced club management software and then add revenue streams through payments, e-commerce and sponsorships.
Exit opportunities are also there: many established companies have been snapping up startups in sports sector, but usually for access to active consumers who could be spending more on their lifestyle, not so much on products like Sportlyzer. Sportlyzer is raising capital on Funderbeam, aiming to boost growth to sign up 35,000 sports clubs from Europe by the end of 2016.
