The Mayor of Helsinki, Jussi Pajunen, will represent the plan to found a company as the basis of Startup Maria startup hub to the Helsinki City Council.

The company is proposed to be founded as a non-profit organization by the City of Helsinki, startup foundation Startup-säätiö and NewCo Helsinki (Uusyrityskeskus Helsinki).

The main goal of the planned hub – to be built at a former hospital complex downtown Helsinki – is to bring together the most promising startups of the region.

Editor’s note: The renovation of Maria Hospital has started this week, and the Helsinki City Council will decide about the next steps of the project after Easter.
