Unmonday picks up €1.5 million

Finland’s Unmonday announced it’s picked up €1.5 million in funding for it’s multichannel wireless speaker system with a strong design aspect. It’s hexagonal speakers connect through Apple’s Airplay and pump out beats according to how you place them – with one hexagonal face down you’ll get Mono, rotate it to the side it’ll act as a left speaker, and so on.

These speakers don’t come cheap. Each one goes for roughly €600 even during their Christmas sale, so you’ve got to be committed to some designer home furnishings or fashion accessories (with the Lumi leather case and strap) to really go all in.

The company tried to raise some cash through Kickstarter back in 2012, but unsuccessfully hit their $200,000 goal, raising just $68k.

CEO Jukka Illi predicts that there will be a growing space for high quality wireless speakers, and that demand for this segment won’t be fading any time soon. “Financing also allowed us to start new product development projects, which we will tell more about in spring 2015. There will be new exiting products to complement our current selection,” says Illi.
