Underhood Raises Funding For Big Data Leap

Underhood.co, an automated online business directory, has raised funding from Finnish business data firm Asiakastieto to enable it to create platform offering up-to-date deep-dive into any company, public or listed.

The companies did not unveil the size of the investment.

So far Underhood has automated rather simple company pages showing the sectors and latest social media activity, but the company has started to create much deeper analysis tool using nowcasting methodology, enabling it to present up to date information on any company – also publicly listed ones.

“Putting it simply — we are building a big data/artificial intelligence monster which will be like a business dashboard of any company for anyone to see,” said Sami Kuusela, the founder of Hupparihörhö Oy, the company operating Underhood.co.

Underhood will be going against firms like CB Insights, Datafox, Mattermark and Funderbeam who focus on data collection and further analysis of it.

Kuusela said the firm had seen already interest among investors, banks, and different corporate information services providers, adding the firm was looking to hire more developers, and data- and internet-savvy economists.
