We’re very excited to be announcing two very interesting speakers to our Arctic15 -conference in September; Steve Huffman, Co-founder of Hipmunk (formerly also Reddit) as well as Daniel Kaplan, Business Developer at Mojang the company behind the game Minecraft.

Things are slowly moving in place and we now have 5 of the 8 keynote speakers listed. We actually squeezed the schedule a bit so we could add in more speakers to the event than we originally planned. We also still have a few early bird tickets available, so we suggest you get yours now before they run out. Below are the introductions of the two gentlemen from our Arctic15 website.

Steve Huffman
Steve Huffman co-founded the social news site reddit.com in 2005 with his college roommate. reddit.com has since grown into the largest social news site and one of the largest communities on the Internet. In 2010, he co-founded Hipmunk, a travel meta-search site trying to take the agony out of searching for plane and hotel tickets online. As lead engineer at both these companies, he’s had many technologies adventures and hopes to share his experiences.

Daniel Kaplan
Daniel Kaplan is the business developer and was the first person to be hired by Markus “Notch” Persson for his company Mojang, creators of the award winning game Minecraft. Daniel Kaplan has been involved from the start, when the company was registered, and is currently working with the CEO and organizing the company.

Minecraft being a sandbox game launched in Spring 2009, has grown to 6 million registered users and has 1,9 million paying customers. Minecraft currently attracts 45 000 new users every day and 10 000 new purchases a day.

Prior to Mojang, Daniel worked as the CEO and co-founded the game company Ludosity, worked as a teacher at the University of Skövde’s game development programme, as a pizza baker and as a freelance 3d animator.

Daniel was born in Skövde, Sweden.

Needless to say, we’re super excited to have both Steve and Daniel keynote at Arctic15 together with Alexander Ljung, Nils Forsblom and Stefan Lindeberg. Did we already mention that you should get your ticket to the event already? Ok, good.

After buying your ticket, check out Microsoft Azure for free
We’re also proud to have Microsoft Azure as the Platinum sponsor at our event. They now have a 30 day Windows Azure pass to test both Windows Azure and SQL Azure for free. You can find more information here on how to get your 30-day pass.
