Reaktor, Aalto Space Team Launch Satellite Startup

Reaktor and the team which has worked on satellite projects of Aalto University have founded new startup, Reaktor Space Lab, which will focus on planning, building and testing small satellites.

“Thanks to the new company we are becoming increasingly more serious player in the international space industry. Thanks to this we are joining the few players who can create a satellite from scratch,” said Juha-Matti Liukkonen, who runs space and robotics business at Reaktor.

Small satellites are used for telecommunications, remote monitoring of earth and its atmosphere or for other science projects.

“Commercialisation of nano-satellites is important for Finland,” said Tuomas Tikka, the CEO of the new startup. “Demand for them has grown explosively over the last years and the new usage of space technology will bring new business to Finland.”
