As Pixelmator writes on their blog, they’ve had quite a year. The image editing app has been one of the highest rated and most downloaded apps on Mac App Store market, which has translated to a crazy amount of sales at €23.99 a copy. A couple of months ago the Lithuania-originated team won the prestigious Apple Design Award, and yesterday Apple named Pixelmator as the App Of The Year.
Pixelmator was released in September of 2007, and steadily gained a reputation as a solid alternative to Photoshop. The company released Pixelmator 2.0 in October, which was built from the ground up for OS X Lion. Pixelmator is exclusively sold in the Mac App Store.
From here the company plans to continue to develop Pixelmator. They write on their blog, “And again, thank you so much, everyone, for helping us to get where we are today: closer and closer to creating the best image editing app in the world. We know we are not there yet, but we are also confident that we will get there.”
