Ministry raises €1.8 Million ahead of new game

Helsinki-based Ministry of Games picked up a nice funding round ahead of a to-be-announced game.

Judging by the quality of the investors, this could be an interesting one. Getting in on the €1.8 million round is Index Ventures, Initial Capital, Sunstone Capital, and Proxy Ventures. For an angel investor, add in there Henric Suuronen, the co-founder of Nonstop Games, the Singapore-based mobile games company recently acquired by King.

In their press release Ministry says they will be announcing their first game in 2015. Judging by how the formula seems to go, around that time we’ll likely hear of another funding round around then to give them some marketing muscle.

Currently it seems the company looking to acquire talent.

“We are building a company where the best game developers of the industry can simply focus on creating great games and cutting-edge technology, without distractions.”

It’s tough to say what the focus of Ministry’s game will be about. Way before launch you knew, for example, that Small Giant’s game was going to involve birds. Ministry’s home page meanwhile has some robin hood concept art, some bitchin’ muscle cars tearing up the desert, and their LinkedIn page has concept art of an Octopus saying “have a nice weekend!”

We’ll have to wait and see what comes out of Helsinki’s new Ministry.
