Microsoft BizSpark European Summit Finalists Announced

microsoft Bizspark_EuropeMicrosoft BizSpark European Summit released the names of the 14 finalists from the whole of Europe. The competition involved hundreds of startups from all over Europe and making it to the top means that the selected startups had great potential to impress the selectors. Each of the finalists had to battle their way to this spot against numerous companies and two qualification rounds to grab a chance to pitch their ideas live in front of an audience of investors and a panel of expert judges. This final event will be held on June 14, in Brussels. Impressively, 4 companies are from the Northern European region.

BinaryBio

BinaryBioBinaryBio is a startup based in Sweden and is based on leading research in the field of distributed computing and bioinformatics. BinaryBio works in close cooperation with the Stockholm University’s Center for Biomembrane Research (CBR) and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). It offers software solutions protein structure determination, modeling, simulation and technologies for distributed computing.

Fabrication Games

Fabrication GamesBased in Sweden, Fabrication Games develops games for the iPhone, iPad, Flash and the Zeebo platform. Fabrication Games has been making games for mobile devices and has numerous awards under its belt. Some of its major titles include:

PixelPandemic

PixelPandemicThe startup is based in Denmark and comes in as a developer of a unique game engine that provides users with a persistent browser based (PBBG) MMORPG. Their game engine facilitates tile based map navigation, location interactions, skill progression, etc, utilizing advanced combat system. The technology is based on the Microsoft.NET framework utilizing the cloud infrastructure of Azure.

Zombie Pandemic is its upcoming survival horror game, which is highly anticipated.

Techila Technologies

TechilaThe company was founded in Finland in 2006 and provides High Performance Computing (HPC) solutions. Its flagship product, Techila Grid enables organizations to create an environmentally aware HPC Infrastructure. It offers solutions to businesses, IT managers as well end users with its high performance computing that enables faster development cycles, reducing complexity of the organization’s computational tooling, etc. You can learn more about it here.
