An image editing application for the Mac OSX, created by the Lithuanian developers Saulius Dailide and Aidas Dailide, Pixelmator has grossed $1M in sales in the Mac App Store. The application is on sale (currently) for approximately 24€, which means it has sold an amazing, over 40 000 downloads. The application is a relatively light weight alternative to the heavier image editing applications and features a lot of different basic tools for image editing as well as over 15 color correction tools and over 130 different filters.
According to the blog post announcing the milestone, Saulius Dailide stated that the application has received fantastic reviews globally. In the US the app has 4,5 stars with over 275 ratings, 5 stars with over 128 ratings in the UK and 4,5 stars with over 129 ratings in the UK. Those who have played around with apps, be it mobile or desktop, know that these are extremely high reviews.
What’s the amazing piece of news here is that on January 6th Saulius Dailide blogged that they are now live in the Mac App Store. From there, after 20 or so days, they grossed $1M in sales. That’s a pretty nice rate of sales by any standards.
The company was founded in 2007, by the two brothers in order to pursue creating fun, practical, innovative and easy-to-use software for the Mac OSX.
