About us

ArcticStartup is the leading online media reporting on startups and promoting growth entrepreneurship in the Northern Europe. It is creating a community of entrepreneurs and businesses. Also known for event brands such as Arctic15, Reverse Pitching, Media Honeypot and Startups in the Sun as well as the European startup print magazine called CoFounder. A community for anyone who is interested in the Nordic and Baltic startup scene.

Our aim is to encourage entrepreneurship and to promote connectedness in the Nordic and Baltic regions. To do so we have our media arm, events and a number of very exciting plans for expansion. We continuously gather tens of thousands of readers from over 130 countries, giving the region’s startups a media channel for getting global recognition.

ArcticStartup helps the startup ecosystem with matchmaking, connecting, scouting, consulting, sharing information, organizing events, organizing trips to other events, building bridges between large corporations and startups, and also via offering internship and job positions in the Nordics and Baltics.

ArcticStartup was founded in 2007 and is currently led by Dmitri Sarle and Jan Ameri. Headquartered in Helsinki, ArcticStartup covers Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and some news from Russia.

Meet the ArcticStartup Team

History

Launched in 2007 by Antti Vilpponen and Miikka Kukkosuo as founding writers and getting out two-three articles a week, ArcticStartup quickly started gaining traction. In 2008 Ville Vesterinen and Karri Saarinen joined the founding team and ArcticStartup launched its own that were at first held in a small bar of Dubrovnik in Helsinki.

Both the media and events started going international in 2009, expanding to the neighbouring Nordics & Baltics. This growth continued until 2012, when the company nearly shut-down as the founders wanted to move-on to other projects. At that point Dmitri Sarle and Greg Anderson took over the company and re-founded ArcticStartup with Jan Ameri joining very shortly.
