Ultrahack Sprint I
May 18 @ 8:00 am - May 20 @ 5:00 pm
Do you want to make a difference in a world you live in? Your future is in your hands!
Ultrahack invites you to solve real challenges with key industry players and the latest tech at the Ultrahack Sprint I on May 18-20, held traditionally at Airo Island in Helsinki, Finland. That’s where you can spend your weekend in the most efficient way: boost your skills, challenge yourself and of course, have tons of fun.
At Ultrahack you will get to be creative and collaborate towards new innovations. You don’t have to be a coder yourself – all you need is a hunger for innovation and desire to make a real impact on the world. Bring your own team or come as you are if don’t have one – there will be plenty of people and opportunities to pursue the bravest ideas.
Ultrahack Sprint I presents the following challenges:
Hack The Forest Data
Finland has one of the best forest data resources in the world, but there is a limited number of commercial solutions utilizing that data. In this challenge, Finnish Forest Centre, National Land Survey of Finland (MML), Natural Resources Institute Finland (LUKE) and Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) open data sets for you to come up with creative solutions for the forest industry, forest owners and the general public. The winners will receive a 10,000€ cash prize and an opportunity to present the idea at Arctic15 to international media and investors.
Event Tech & Mobility Hack
The challenges has a goal to come up with new smart mobility services for events. For example, you may find new ways for the attendees to commute to events and improve their travel experience. Selected event organizers and venues will be available for developers to test their solutions earliest in Q2-4/2018. For Event Tech and Mobility solutions, one may think (but not limited to) of differentiation via aspects such as Mydata, data security aspects, AI or service mesh, mixed reality, user engagement or language customization. The winning team will get 3 000€ in cash and pilot purchases negotiations with cities and event organizers.
ESA BIC Space Hack: The Air, The Land, and The Sea
ESA BIC Finland invites hackers and space enthusiasts to come up with ideas, visualizations and solutions related to the marine economy, arctic conditions, air quality and forestry using Copernicus and/or Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) data resources. Use space data to hack various industries and compete for 5,000€ cash prize. The best ideas will be reviewed by ESA BIC and FMI and the best teams will be invited to the ESA BIC program.
The Talsinki Hack
Create solutions for people traveling between Tallinn and Helsinki on a weekly basis. Come up with new innovative services and solutions that make the commute smoother, shorter, and more comfortable. You can extend your imagination beyond commuters and think about how to make cross-border business more effective and comfortable for employees and employers working in these two cities. The best team will get 3 000€, 6 months Tehnopol incubation program and an opportunity to present their idea at Arctic15 and Lattitude59.
AI Hack: Intelligent Buildings
Modern buildings provide huge amounts of data which could be utilized way more than they are today. This data can be static such as 2D floor plans or 3D building information models or dynamic such as IoT data from different sensors (temperature, humidity, CO2, energy consumption etc.). AI and machine learning can be used for proactive maintenance, optimizing performance or better user experience of these buildings. You will have access to four types of buildings which all provide various opportunities to make them more intelligent: school, shopping mall, office building, and a university building. Think outside of the box and show what you can do with this data to take these buildings to the next level. The prize for this challenge is 6 000€.
So if you want to make the world a better place, apply for Ultrahack Sprint I by May 1st!
