Estonian Wooden Frames Maker Taps Crowd

Estonian maker of wooden eyeglass frames, Framed by Karl, launched on Wednesday crowdfunding campaign to raise capital for global expansion.

So far Karl’s frames have been sold mostly in Estonia. The company aims to stand out in the crowd of wooden frame makers with vast variety of models, sizes and materials – enabling personalisation almost to the level of tailor-made.

Framed by Karl seeks to raise at least 19,200 euros, selling at most 1/6 of the company if investments reach almost 100,000 euros. The company has also just received 50,000 euros grant from Estonia to support its expansion.

Over the years the company has won awards and some international media coverage, including in Vogue Italy and Monocle.

Compared to many more traditional startups Framed by Karl stresses in its offer sustainable and long-term growth as well as regular dividends.
