New Energy-Self Sufficient Location Service From Finland Will Save the Logistics Companies A Lot Of Money

Finnish IoT startup Emergence will launch next month its asset tracking offering, which will run 10 years without maintenance.

Emergence Oy is developing Taival location service. The service includes energy self-sufficient device that helps companies to track the location of their assets and predictive UI-friendly service. The company currently awaits for the patent to be granted to the technology that enables the device to last for 10 years without maintenance. With that technology the service will significantly lower maintenance costs. This is especially advantageous for markets where cost is a challenge, for example, logistics and transports including destinations of humanitarian aid, refugee camps and disaster relief assistance that commonly lack in infrastructure.

Emergence has won a deal from Finnish Transport Agency and is in ongoing negotiations with a global humanitarian agency. The firm was picked on Wednesday one of the three finalists of Elisa IoT Innovation Challenge.

The company plans to launch this December at Slush, the biggest startup event in the Nordics. To go international and develop the product further Emergence will be looking for 1 million euros in funding during 2017.
