VR Game Bait! Surpasses 2 Million Players And Releases VR Controller

2 million players all over the world and release of the newest VR controller – lots of news from Swedish gaming company Resolution Games.

Resolution Games today released a new update for the Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus edition of Bait! – VR’s most popular fishing game – that allows players to add the recently released Gear VR controller to their tackle box.

Bait! provides a diverse, story-driven experience where players are transported to Bait! Island to help their boss catch a rare fish as they try to save the faltering aquarium where they work. The game features five different lakes, each with varying fish species to collect throughout. Expert anglers can bag them all and aim for the dream of reeling in a prize-winning catch of every type. Bait! is available for download on Gear VR and Google Daydream. Here’s how it looks like:

“We will always be proud to have been one of the earliest developers on the Gear VR platform,” said Tommy Palm, CEO and co-founder of Resolution Games. “However, those early days had one major limitation: there wasn’t a controller that players could hold and bring into the virtual world. Bait! was designed to excel within these limitations, but as we’re sure our players with Gear VR controllers will agree, fishing feels so much more natural with a rod in your hand.”

In addition to the introduction of controller support for Gear VR, the company has also reported that VR game Bait! has been downloaded by more than 2 million players across the globe. This is a significant number compared to 700 000 players a year ago.

“The 2 million players milestone is an important reminder about the
potential of mobile VR,” adds Palm. “Its affordability and convenience
has the greatest potential to make virtual reality accessible to the
general consumer. And, we’re very excited to see numbers like these so
early on in the industry.”
